Within the Amami Islands, Amami Oshima and Tokunoshima are mountainous, covered with lush forests, while Kikai, Okinoerabu and Yoron are islands of raised coral reefs.
Each island has its own ecology, as well as water, malted rice, brown sugar from local sugarcanes which are prepared by each distillery’s own unique creativity, turning into a spirit that cannot be found anywhere else.
